Color Work

Like most photographers of my generation I began my practice in black and white. When William Eggleston’s groundbreaking exhibit opened at the Museum of Modern Art in 1976 I was a student, and like many more seasoned photographers everywhere I was challenged by the work. But it undeniably broke down the door to the now quaint notion that color photography could indeed be art. • My own experiments in color began shortly after and in earnest in the mid 1980’s. Seduced by the strong contrast and saturated color of Kodachrome I soon moved on to Fujichrome when it was introduced in the U.S. More recently I have transitioned to digital for these pictures, primarily for the simplicity of process. Vintage type R prints in various sizes are available for many of the pre-2002 images. All other images are available as pigment prints.
